eggs and flour on a table

We supply beautiful wholesale bread. Our simple approach blends traditional baking techniques and fresh food trends to deliver exceptional results. In 2019 we totally removed nuts from our recipes to make our food safe for everyone and now we have a plant-based version of almost all of our 80 or so products, which means most of our beautiful baked goods are suitable for everyone, from carnivores to vegans.

Why create plant-based versions of our wonderful products?

We believe the future is plant-based. Veganism is healthy, kind to the planet, kind to animals, and done right it’s just as tasty as food baked with animal products. It is also one of the world’s biggest culinary trends, and it started life right here in the UK. So let’s look at some numbers.

The Vegan Society is the world’s oldest Vegan organization, founded in 1944. The number of vegans in Great Britain quadrupled between 2014 and 2019. In 2019 there were 600,000 vegans, 1.21% of the population. This year, according to a study on the Finder website, there are around 2.5 million UK vegans, just under 5% of the adult population. It makes sense when widespread adoption of a vegan diet could see greenhouse gas emissions fall by an impressive 70%.

According to Ipsos just under half of Brits aged 16 to 75 are thinking about cutting back on animal products. That’s a lot of people! As it turns out, the UK is leading the way, buying 33% of all the vegan alternatives sold in Europe. We also consume more vegan milk, meat and fish alternatives, butter, cheese, ready meals and food-to-go than any other country in Europe. And the UK has launched more vegan products than any other country.

The vegetarian and vegan scene is subdivided into a number of categories. Vegans eat no animal products, including no eggs or honey. Lacto Vegetarians eat dairy but don’t eat meat, poultry, fish, or eggs. Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians eat eggs and dairy but not meat, honey, fish or poultry. Ovo Vegetarians eat eggs but avoid all other animal products. Pescatarians eat fish but no meat or dairy. Pollo Vegetarians eat poultry but won’t eat red meat. And now, all of these people can enjoy our plant based goodies with a clear conscience.

So how do we create such supremely tasty baked goods without dairy, eggs or any other animal product? We love to innovate. Creativity sits at the heart of our business. We’ve worked hard and long to find ways to recreate plant-based versions of classic bakes as well as exciting new recipes.
